Formats
Every admitted media type is signed in one of three lanes. The lane decides what a job can do with the file:
- Embedded (decoded). Images, audio and video that the service decodes. The C2PA manifest is embedded in the file, and these types can also take an invisible watermark and server-side fingerprints, depending on the recipe.
- Structural (not decoded). Containers the signing engine can write a manifest into without decoding the media. They are signed only: no watermark and no fingerprint.
- Sidecar manifest. Formats that cannot carry an embedded manifest. The job publishes the
original bytes unchanged next to a separate
.c2pamanifest; see Downloads and sidecar manifests.
Choose a recipe for the goal, then check here that the media type accepts it. The recipes and modes are explained in Recipes.
Formats
Section titled “Formats”The tables below are generated from the capability snapshot the API is built with. A deployment
can enable fewer, so GET /v1/capabilities stays the
authority at run time. The upload limit is the largest file
POST /v1/uploads accepts for that type.
